This is undoubtedly the best place to reside in Akure. Alagbaka is the hub of the crème de-la-crème of the city. This area of the city is inhabited by top business owners as well as top government officials. Alagbaka is the seat of administration in Ondo state as it houses both the Governor’s office and lodge. It is more than a residential area as it play host to several business buildings, hotels and top organization’s headquarters. At Alagbaka, you can easily move from one bank to the other without taking a taxi, bus or bike. Also, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Ondo state is located there. Although, buying of lands and renting accommodations are quite expensive in Alagbaka but that should not deter you from securing a place there as you’ve got a whole lot of things to enjoy at this serene and tranquil area.
The name alone is very popular within Akure metropolis. Ijapo, which happened to be an estate was the residence of the elite and affluence in late 90s and early 2000 before Alagbaka became the frontrunner. Notwithstanding, Ijapo is still very much alive as many of the old-money folks still live in this area. Ijapo, which to a large extent is a residential area, has a good mix of social life and productivity. Every morning, you can see people driving out of the estate to their various place of work, and at night, you will see fleet of cars entering the estate and see their clubs getting filled. Ijapo, though an estate, played host to several hotels, clubs, bars and event centres. The area is good for those who don’t like a silent and all-to-myself lifestyle. Although, there are few or no land on sale in Ijapo but there are old buildings that are up for sale in the area. Residents in Ijapo enjoy maximum supply of electricity.
- ALAGBAKA PHASE II
Alagbaka phase II is located in between Alagbaka and Oba-Ile. This is a very serene and tranquil environment as you would hardly hear any noise. Structures in this area are modern and the people dwelling here are well educated and super-rich. Alagbaka phase II is where you will find many State Commissioners, House of Assembly members, University dons, permanent secretaries etc. The good thing about this neighborhood is that its residents have high respect for one another and there is a good communication link among the people. Do you belong to the above listed categories of people and thinking of living in Akure, Alagbaka phase II would suite you perfectly.
Oba-Ile is next on the list after Alagbaka phase II that we would recommend for anyone to buy a land or build his or her house. This is because; this area has many similarities with Alagbaka phase II. Oba-Ile, very close to Akure Airport, is inhabited by both the affluent and the middleclass people. The lifestyle of the people in this area is similar. This area houses some organizations like the ‘OSOPADEC’ office, Rhythm Fm and several top hotels and clubs in Akure. Although, it is few kilometers away from the center of the city but Oba-Ile has adequate road network to transport you from and to any location in the city.
Awule, also spelt as Aule might have come last on our top five list but it is the best area for a certain class of people. Residing in Awule will afford you the best of city life. This is because Awule is very close to the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) and the city center as well. Unlike other areas listed above, Awule is easily accessible at night because the road linking to the neighborhood passes through the city center. Also, the area is a unique area known for its commercial activities. This means that you can easily get food items and others in Awule than you would in Ijapo, Alagbaka or Oba-Ile. Although, houses here are old and semi-modern, but the cost of living in this neighborhood is cheap compared to others listed above. So, if you are in Akure or you are thinking of moving to Akure to stay and you are looking forward to securing an apartment in a relatively low cost area where you would still enjoy the best of city life, Awule might just be the perfect place for you.
